Round Table on Academic Honesty as a System Problem of Higher Education in Ukraine

On July 16, 2015, the information agency UKRINFORM held a round-table discussion “Academic Honesty as a System Problem of Higher Education in Ukraine: University, Lecturer, Student”, whose organizers were the charitable foundation Institute of Education Development, and the public organization East-Ukrainian Foundation for Social Research. It was held under the aegis of the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF).
The round-table participants were the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Serhii Kvit, the President of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Vil Bakirov, the President of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”, Andrii Meleshevych, the member of the Collegium of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Taras Finikov, the Executive Director of the East-Ukrainian Foundation for Social Research, Oleksandr Kizilov, the representative of the Ukrainian Association of Student Self-Government, Vladyslav Melnyk, and other experts, as well as lecturers and students of higher educational institutions of Ukraine. During the discussion, Mr. Bakirov presented the results of the all-Ukrainian sociological research conducted within the project “Ukrainian Students’ Academic Culture: The Main Factors of Formation and Development” by the East-Ukrainian Foundation for Social Research under the aegis of the IRF on December 2014 through July 2015. In particular, the survey covered 1,928 students and 374 faculty members polled in 25 higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
